Tapas Tuesday: Solomillo

This weeks tapa: Solomillo
English translation: Sirloin

Tapas night in San Sebastian (Summer 2011)
Although you will probably never get this tapa free with a drink, it is an amazingly delicious and very popular one to order! The cut of meat is usually solomillo de cerdo (pork) and is cooked simply a la plancha (grilled) with some olive oil and topped with some sea salt. This tapa is quintessentially Spanish: highlighting the popular meat of choice, cooked with simplicity and love. There's no need to spice it up or add fancy sauces, this tapa is about tasting a delicious and perfectly cooked piece of meat. I've never been disappointed by ordering solomillo.
